Austin, Tejas
In 1998 I passed the half-my-life-in-Austin mark as the temporal view would have it when,
in reality, I was reborn here a mere thirty years ago and think of this as my home town,
being the first place I ever lived which didn't appear to be a steppingstone on my career
path or a rung on the corporate ladder. With the loss of pace in the chase for the carrot,
like no momentum on a bicyle, I dropped out, left the IBM compound out north of town
and into the city to enjoy the benefits of local carrot juice ever since. This is one scene
which hasn't changed and yet another reason to still love this place.
